Umoljani - Obalj - Lukomir
Overview
Step into living history on this hike through Bjelašnica’s timeless villages. The “Lukomir Heritage Trail” connects the picturesque Umoljani with Lukomir — the highest permanently inhabited village in Bosnia and Herzegovina, sitting at 1,495 meters above sea level.
The trail climbs gradually over Mount Obalj, offering breathtaking views of the Rakitnica Canyon before descending into Lukomir, where stone houses, traditional wool clothing, and handmade rugs still tell the story of a centuries-old lifestyle.
Along the way, you’ll pass natural springs, grazing sheep, and locals who welcome visitors with coffee and homemade cheese. This is more than a hike — it’s a journey into the soul of mountain culture and the living heritage of Bosnia’s highlands.
AVAILABLE – FROM MAY TO END OF NOVEMBER
Why end the fun at the trail? After this hiking tour, you can spend the night camping under the stars and fully immerse yourself in nature. Check out our “Camping Under the Stars” section for more details.
